The 20th FIFA World Cup is due to take place in Brazil between 12 June to 13 July 2014. It is the second time the country would have hosted the tournament.
The sale of an estimated 3.3 million tickets for the tournament began on 20 August 2013 with the scramble for Brazil hotels starting shortly after that.
Overall 12 cities will host football matches including Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and the country’s federal capital Brasília whose 70,000 capacity stadium is sure to create a fantastic atmosphere.
Planned and constructed in 1956 under the leadership of Lúcio Costa the city is renown for its interesting architecture, numerous historical sites and museums and love of sport (though neither of its two football teams Brasiliense Futebol Clube and Sociedade Esportiva do Gama have been that successful).
